Dear Songkick, when will you extend coverage to Festivals?

Here’s an idea I had.

Songkick (the genius app that looks through your music collection and pushes alerts when you favorite artists are playing gigs, pushing you to the ticket sellers) is failing me. This summer I will delight in festival season as I so often do. This time my big UK blowout is Glastonbury and for almost a year i have been digesting a delight of emerging artists, obscure genres and incredible music talent. I bought my Glastonbury ticket blind (the commitment so many of us have to make), trusting that Glastonbury will deliver and sure enough, this week, some of the artists have been revealed. But the list is a long one. Scouting through several pages of artist names in increasingly illegible fonts has meant that in the past, I’ve turned up at festivals and missed out on seeing one of my favorite bands.

Dear Songkick, please could you build bridges with major world festivals to alert me who will be where this summer? Even if ticket sales have sold out, it must be an opportunity to push interest to Seatwave (the reseller marketplace) or up-sell merchandise, even going so far as to claim marketing and PR budget from the major festivals.

That way i could wake up each morning with Songkick alerts revealing that my new favorite artist will be on the main stage in just a few days time. Now that’s a gift that even users would be willing to pay for…
